1 다윗이 죽을 날이 임박하매 그의 아들 솔로몬에게 명령하여 이르되

2 내가 이제 세상 모든 사람이 가는 길로 가게 되었노니 너는 힘써 대장부가 되고

3 네 하나님 여호와의 명령을 지켜 그 길로 행하여 그 법률과 계명과 율례와 증거를 모세의 율법에 기록된 대로 지키라 그리하면 네가 무엇을 하든지 어디로 가든지 형통할지라

4 여호와께서 내 일에 대하여 말씀하시기를 만일 네 자손들이 그들의 길을 삼가 마음을 다하고 성품을 다하여 진실히 내 앞에서 행하면 이스라엘 왕위에 오를 사람이 네게서 끊어지지 아니하리라 하신 말씀을 확실히 이루게 하시리라 (열왕기 상2:1-4)

2 "I am about to go the way of all the earth. Be strong, and show yourself a man,

3 and keep the charge of the LORD your God, walking in his ways and keeping his statutes, his commandments, his rules, and his testimonies, as it is written in the Law of Moses, that you may prosper in all that you do and wherever you turn,

4 that the LORD may establish his word that he spoke concerning me, saying, 'If your sons pay close attention to their way, to walk before me in faithfulness with all their heart and with all their soul, you shall not lack a man on the throne of Israel.'( 1king 2:1-4)

자녀들아 너희 부모를 주 안에서 순종하라 이것이 옳으니라 네 아버지와 어
머니를 공경하라 이것이 약속 있는 첫 계명이니 이는 네가 잘되고 땅에서 장수
하리라

1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.

2 "Honor your father and mother" (this is the first commandment with a promise),

3 "that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land."
